Rangers recall RHP Lindblom from minors

Published Jul. 2, 2013 7:09 p.m. ET

The Texas Rangers have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday for the third time this season.

The 26-year-old Lindblom will replace right-hander Kyle McClellan in Texas' bullpen. McClellan was designated for assignment after allowing runs in the last four of his seven appearances since the Rangers purchased his contract from Round Rock on June 9.

Lindblom started four games during his earlier recalls, with an 0-2 record and 5.40 ERA in 21 2-3 innings. Manager Ron Washington says Lindblom's role would be in long relief.

As a starter in 10 of his 11 games for Round Rock this season, Lindblom is 7-0 with a 1.99 ERA.
