Rangers' Lewis strong in minor league start

Published Mar. 17, 2011 10:04 p.m. ET

Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis struck out six in five solid innings in a minor league game on Thursday.

Lewis, scheduled to be the Rangers' No. 2 starter, allowed two unearned runs and walked none in his start against Kansas City's Triple-A team. The right-hander threw 54 of his 77 pitches for strikes.

The day game was on a backfield at the spring training complex the two major league teams share. The Rangers played their major league game at night against San Diego in Peoria.

Lewis' next scheduled start is Tuesday, which is the only off day of the spring for the Rangers. Lewis is expected to pitch in another minor league game that day.
