OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Colby Lewis of the Texas Rangers is pitching a perfect game through seven innings against the Oakland Athletics.

Lewis has thrown 75 pitches Thursday in Oakland.

Rookie right fielder Nomar Mazara has made the best defensive play for Texas, running down a drive by Max Muncy in the third. In the sixth, Muncy tried to bunt for a hit with the game scoreless and Lewis threw him out.

Texas now leads 2-0.

Lewis was 5-0 this season going into the game. The 36-year-old is making his 14th start of the year.

The A's have not been no-hit since four Baltimore pitchers combined to do it in 1991. That's the longest stretch any big league team has gone without being held hitless.

Kenny Rogers threw the last no-hitter for Texas, a perfect game against the Angels in 1994.
