Pomeranz leaves 2 innings after being hit by liner

Published May. 8, 2012 2:06 a.m. ET

Rockies left-hander Drew Pomeranz left Monday night's game against San Diego with a bruised right quad two innings after he was hit by a line drive by Padres starter Edinson Volquez.

Pomeranz fielded Volquez's liner after it bounced off his leg and threw him out in the second. He was checked by the trainer and stayed in the game.

Pomeranz, who bats right-handed, hit his first career homer in the third, lining a ball off the facade of the second-deck in left field.
