Phillies prospect Gillies arrested

Published Aug. 20, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Philadelphia Phillies prospect Tyson Gillies has been charged with possession of cocaine after an arrest in Florida.

The deputy said Gillies appeared to be intoxicated, so he drove Gillies to his hotel. After Gillies left the car, the deputy said he found a small bag of white powder where he had been sitting. The sheriff's office says the powder tested positive for cocaine.

The Phillies say they're aware of the charge but declined comment. Gillies was acquired in an offseason trade that sent pitcher Cliff Lee to Seattle.
