Padres C Nick Hundley goes on DL

San Diego catcher Nick Hundley will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and will be placed on the disabled list.

Manager Bud Black made the announcement after the Padres lost to the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Thursday night.

The surgery will be performed by team doctor Heinz Hoenecke on Friday in San Diego.

The Padres recalled catcher Luis Martinez to take Hundley's place on the roster. Martinez will join the team in Los Angeles.
