Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen leaves with injury

Published May. 12, 2013 5:25 p.m. ET

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Wei-Yin Chen has left his start against Minnesota with a strained right side.

The left-hander had been breezing through the Twins lineup Sunday, allowing five hits in five scoreless innings while striking out three. He was replaced by Tommy Hunter.

Chen entered with five quality starts in his past seven outings. He has allowed no more than three runs in seven of eight starts.

Behind home runs by Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Steve Pearce, the Orioles led 6-0 after six innings.
