Orioles ace Chris Tillman likely headed to DL

Published Aug. 24, 2016 12:02 a.m. ET

BALTIMORE (AP) Orioles ace Chris Tillman appears headed to the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.

After having his last start pushed back three days, Tillman gave up six runs in two innings against Houston on Saturday.

He and manager Buck Showalter insisted the right-hander's shoulder wasn't an issue, but now there's no question about it.

After Tuesday's game against Washington, Showalter said: ''I think he's going to be on the disabled list.''

Tillman is 15-5 with a 3.76 ERA in 26 starts. No other starter has more than seven wins.

The Orioles hope his stay on the disabled list lasts the minimum.

Tillman was scheduled to start Thursday in Washington. The Orioles have not yet named a replacement.
