Nats option den Dekker, Gott to Triple-A; Heisey on roster

WASHINGTON (AP) Outfielder Matt den Dekker and right-handed reliever Trevor Gott have been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse by the Washington Nationals, who also selected the contract of outfielder Chris Heisey.

In another move announced after Washington's 4-3 exhibition victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night, right-handed reliever Aaron Barrett was put on the 60-day disabled list.

Left-handed reliever Sean Burnett said the Nationals told him he wouldn't make the 25-man roster.

Den Dekker batted .300 with zero homers and four RBIs in 40 spring training at-bats but lost out on a job as a reserve outfielder and pinch hitter to Heisey, who hit .233 with two homers and 10 RBIs. Heisey played for new Nationals manager Dusty Baker in Cincinnati.

Gott's demotion means righty Blake Treinen earned the final spot in Washington's bullpen.
