Nationals place infielder Stephen Drew on DL with dizziness
CLEVELAND (AP) Washington Nationals infielder Stephen Drew has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with dizziness.
Drew has played just once in the past week, delivering a walk-off triple to give Washington a win over San Diego on Saturday. Manager Dusty Baker said the 33-year-old Drew has been experiencing vertigo-like symptoms and the team is sending him back to Washington for more medical tests.
Drew sat out several days last week because he was feeling ill. He's in his first season with the Nationals, who signed him as a free agent in January.
Drew is batting .262 with seven homers and 17 RBIs for the NL East leaders. He's hit three pinch-hit homers.
To replace Drew, the Nationals have recalled infielder Wilmer Difo from Double-A Harrisburg. The speedy 24-year-old batted .255 with 14 doubles, 33 RBIs and 26 stolen bases in the minors.
