Mom of Yankees' Chamberlain on probation for drugs
The Lincoln Journal-Star is reporting that the mother of New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been sentenced to four years of probation for a felony drug charge.
According to the newspaper, Lancaster County District Judge Jodi Nelson said Monday that probation was appropriate for Jackie Standley because of her relatively clean record and efforts to address her substance abuse problem.
The 45-year-old Standley was arrested last May after selling a gram of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in Lincoln. She pleaded no contest last fall to delivering a controlled substance.
Nelson says it appears that Standley had taken her treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues seriously.
Chamberlain played college baseball for Nebraska.
