Mets put Tejada on disabled list with quad injury

Published May. 30, 2013 4:39 p.m. ET

Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps, a day after helping spark a 9-4 win over the Yankees.

Tejada limped off the field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth Thursday after getting hurt chasing a foul fly down the left-field line. He had a leadoff single in a five-run first, but also had a mental lapse in the field that allowed the Yankees to score twice in the sixth.

The Mets selected the contract of infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League and made space on their 40-man roster by transferring reliever Frank Francisco from the 25- to the 60-day disabled list.

Quintanilla is the starting shortstop and batting ninth.
