The New York Mets have called up left-hander Josh Edgin from Triple-A Buffalo to pitch in relief.

The 25-year-old Edgin joined the team before Friday night's game against the Braves. He was 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA and one save at Buffalo.

The Mets placed right-hander Dillon Gee on the 15-day disabled list. Gee was scheduled for right shoulder surgery on Friday in St. Louis and could miss the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, manager Terry Collins says closer Frank Francisco will not throw on Saturday as had been planned. Francisco is on the disabled list with a left oblique strain.

Collins said Francisco ''just didn't feel right.''
