Mets David Wright receives burst of All-Star votes despite injury
New York Mets third baseman David Wright has only played in eight games this season, but that's not stopping fans from checking his box off on their ballots for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game.
An update issued by MLB.com on Wednesday reveals that Wright is currently No. 4 amongst all National League third basemen despite having not played a game since April 15.
Before being placed on the disabled list, Wright was hitting .333/.371 with a home run and four runs batted in.
Wright has been selected as an All-Star in seven of the full 10 seasons he's spent in MLB, which include a five-year streak from 2006-10.
The 32-year-old third baseman currently trails the Reds' Todd Frazier by over 100,000 votes for third place.
Cardinals hot-corner dweller Matt Carpenter leads all NL third basemen with 1.1 million votes, the second-most amongst all NL position players.
