Mets, 31st overall pick Anthony Kay, agree to $1.1M deal

NEW YORK (AP) Left-hander Anthony Kay, selected by the New York Mets with the 31st overall pick in the amateur draft, has agreed to a minor league contract with a $1.1 million signing bonus.

The agreement, announced Wednesday, was $872,100 under slot value.

Kay, 21, was 9-2 with a 2.65 ERA for the University of Connecticut this year. He was drafted by the Mets in the 29th round three years ago.
