Mattingly: Anderson's Achilles injury might not be serious

Published Jul. 22, 2015 11:37 a.m. ET

ATLANTA (AP) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly says starting pitcher Brett Anderson might not be seriously injured after leaving Tuesday's game with an irritated left Achilles tendon.

Mattingly said before Wednesday's game against the Braves that it's too early to tell if Anderson will make his next scheduled start Sunday at the New York Mets, but the left-hander might not need to go on the disabled list.

Mattingly says that ''the emails this morning were encouraging about what he was able to do.''

Mattingly also is still uncertain who will start Saturday against the Mets. The Dodgers sent right-hander Brandon Beachy to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday and Carlos Frias is on the disabled list.
