Mark Teixeira actually ages year during Red Sox-Yankees marathon
The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees have a storied rivalry. It isn't easy to add another chapter to their book.
However, the teams found a way to do so Friday night, playing a 6-hour, 49-minute game that featured 19 innings, a 16-minute delay due to faulty lighting, three Yankee rallies and, of course, one player aging a year during the Bombers' 6-5 loss to the Red Sox.
Mark Teixeira hit a game-tying home run in the 16th inning of the contest.
The first baseman started the game at 34 years of age and, when it finished after 2 a.m. EDT, he was 35.
