Mariners SS Wilson fractures hand

Published Aug. 8, 2010 10:43 p.m. ET

Mariners shortstop Jack Wilson has fractured a bone in his right hand in an accident at his home.

The team announced Wilson's injury during Sunday's game against Kansas City. The team says Wilson slipped and fell in his bathroom, hitting his hand on the floor. X-rays on Sunday revealed a fractured fifth metacarpal.

He will see a hand specialist Monday, but is likely headed to the disabled list for the second time this season. Wilson missed 41 games in May and June with a hamstring injury.

Wilson is hitting .249 with 11 doubles and 14 RBIs in 61 games this season.
