SEATTLE (AP) The Seattle Mariners bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-hander Arquimedes Caminero from Pittsburgh and switch-pitcher Pat Venditte from Toronto in a pair of trades Saturday.

Both deals Seattle made were for players to be named later. Seattle will be sending two players to Pittsburgh for Caminero and one to Toronto for Venditte. The Mariners announced Venditte would report to Triple-A Tacoma, while Caminero will report to Seattle.

Caminero is 1-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 39 appearances for the Pirates. He's struggled with control, walking 22 batters in 41 innings pitched, but throws in the upper 90s. Caminero appeared in 73 games last season for Pittsburgh and also pitched parts of two seasons with Miami.

Caminero is expected to join the Mariners on Monday. He pitched against Seattle recently giving up two hits and striking out one in one inning against the Mariners on July 26.

''Actually had pretty good success. He got off to a rough start, April and May were bad this year,'' Seattle manager Scott Servais said of Caminero. ''He's been around a little bit, he's got a couple of years in the league and he should be able to help us out.''

Venditte rose to stardom last season with Oakland because of his ability to pitch with both arms. He appeared in eight games this year with Toronto and had a 5.19 ERA in his limited appearances.

To clear spots on the 40-man roster, the Mariners designated for assignment pitchers Donn Roach and Blake Parker. Both Roach and Parker pitched in relief for Seattle earlier this week.
