LEADING OFF: Carrasco back on mound after being hit
A look at what's happening all around the major leagues today:
---
SAY WHAT?
Reds manager Bryan Price will have to face the media before Cincinnati's game against Milwaukee, a day after he went on a profanity-filled tirade, taking exception with the way his team was being covered.
BACK ON THE MOUND
Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco makes his first start since he was struck by a liner off the bat of White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera in the first inning of a 4-1 loss last Tuesday. Carrasco was carted off the field after the ball glanced off his glove and right hand before hitting him on the right side of his face. He had his next start pushed back a day to Tuesday in Chicago, but manager Terry Francona said he is ready to go.
HERE WE GO, AGAIN
The Royals and Twins should be awfully familiar with each other already. After playing a three-game set last week in Minnesota, they returned to Kansas City for a three-game set. And the starting rotations happen to line up. Minnesota will send out Tommy Milone to face Kansas City counterpart Jason Vargas. Milone and the Twins beat Vargas and the Royals last Thursday, 3-1.
ON A RUN
The NL East-leading New York Mets take their eight-game winning streak into the opener of a three-game series against the division-rival Atlanta Braves at Citi Field. Mets top catching prospect Kevin Plawecki could get his first start in place of the injured Travis d'Arnaud.
OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS
The streaking Dodgers visit the slumping World Series champion Giants. Brett Anderson starts for Los Angeles, which has won seven in a row to open the season 9-3. Tim Lincecum hopes to help 4-10 San Francisco get back on track.
IN GOOD COMPANY
Astros right-hander Collin McHugh puts his nine-game winning streak on the line against Taijuan Walker and the Seattle Mariners. McHugh's streak is longest by a Houston starter since Roy Oswalt won nine straight in 2006-07.
