BOSTON (AP) The Boston Red Sox still have hope as they resume play after the All-Star break with the third-worst record in the American League.
Manager John Farrell says no one has conceded anything.
The Red Sox are 9 1/2 games out of first place in the AL East with 67 games left. They open a three-game series at home against the Kansas City Royals on Friday night.
Boston won four of its past five games before the All-Star game, but those were against the mediocre Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros.

The Red Sox are relying heavily on youngsters Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts and Christian Vazquez and a solid pitching rotation. But they've scored the fewest runs in the AL.
