Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers has come out of the season opener against San Diego after three innings because of the flu.

Kershaw held the Padres scoreless on two hits while striking out three and walking one.

Kershaw won the Cy Young last year after he led the majors with a 2.28 ERA, tied for the NL lead with 21 wins and topped the league with 248 strikeouts.
