Jose Fernandez’s high school baseball jersey was taken during a vigil service at the school on Wednesday, according to the Tampa Bay Times

Mourners gathered on the baseball field at Alonso High School in Tampa on Wednesday night. The No. 16 jersey Fernandez wore while playing for the Ravens hung in the dugout during the memorial but was missing after the service concluded.

A police report was filed with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, which says the jersey was taken between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The field is not covered by surveillance cameras.

Fernandez graduated from the school in 2011 and was drafted with the 14th pick by the Marlins that year.

Friends, family and friends gathered for a memorial service at Marlins Park earlier Wednesday. A private funeral was held Thursday.
