Jones has knee MRI, but stays in lineup
Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones had an MRI on his ailing right knee but is in the lineup for a potential postseason-clinching game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Jones had the knee checked out Tuesday morning. The MRI showed a buildup of fluid and nothing but ''bone on bone,'' which is what's causing all the pain. There's no structural damage, however, and Jones didn't even consider coming out of the lineup.
As he says, the knee will probably start feeling better ''around Thanksgiving.''
The Braves have a one-game lead in the NL wild card with two games left in the regular season. They can clinch a second straight trip to the playoffs with a win over the Phillies and a loss by the St. Louis Cardinals, who are playing at Houston.
