Jansen, Dodgers agree on 1-year, $4.3M deal to avoid arbitration

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Pitcher Kenley Jansen and the Dodgers agreed Tuesday on a $4.3 million, one-year contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

Jansen had 28 saves with a 1.88 ERA last season after he took over the closer's role from Brandon League.

He had been seeking $5.05 million. The Dodgers offered $3.5 million.

Said Jansen: ''It's kind of a relief that it's over now. I tried my best not to let it distract me. At the same time, now I can just focus on opening day.''

Jansen is one of five closers on the Dodgers spring-training roster, which also includes League, Brian Wilson, Chris Perez and J.P. Howell.
