Is it Mattingly's fault Dodgers lost to Cardinals? Karros answers
"It just wasn't meant to be."
That's how former Dodger and current FOX Sports MLB analyst Eric Karros summed up the Dodgers' showing in their NLDS loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Karros, who played 12 of his 14 major-league seasons with LA and won the 1992 NL Rookie of the Year as a Dodger, expressed his thoughts on the "Jay Mohr Sports" show on FOX Radio on Wednesday, a day after the Dodgers were eliminated by St. Louis in four games.
"You can break this thing down a million different ways and try and come up with reasons," Karros said.
"Sometimes, you just got to say, 'Look it. It just wasn't meant to happen; stars were aligned a certain way,' instead of trying to say, 'Look it, this guy's fault. Hey, that guy's fault.'
"You got to tip your hat to the Cardinals. ... The Dodgers ran into a buzz saw."
While many critics want to blame manager Don Mattingly and GM Ned Colletti, Karros disagreed. Mohr even pushed that one of the two has to go.
"I don't think you make change just for the sake of change," Karros responded.
Mohr pushed more, while Karros stuck to his guns, said he would have benched Yasiel Puig in Game 4, too, and added his thoughts on what the Dodgers need to do in the future.
