Indians recall RHP McAllister

Published May. 7, 2012 2:06 p.m. ET

The Cleveland Indians have recalled Zach McAllister from Triple-A Columbus to start the first game of a day-night doubleheader against Chicago.

McAllister went 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA in six starts for the Clippers. He'll face White Sox right-hander Philip Humber, who pitched a perfect game earlier this season.

The 24-year-old McAllister was in the mix to win a job as the No. 5 starter in spring training. He's making his fifth career major league start and second against the White Sox. The right-hander got a no-decision on Sept. 20 last season against Chicago.

The Indians took two of three over the weekend against Texas, the defending AL champion, and lead the AL Central by 1 1-2 games over Detroit and three over the White Sox.
