Indians' Carlos Carrasco hit on hand by liner, leaves game

CLEVELAND (AP) Cleveland pitcher Carlos Carrasco's right hand was bruised by a line drive off the bat of Detroit's Ian Kinsler on the second pitch of Saturday's game.

Indians manager Terry Francona and a team trainer immediately went to the mound. The trainer worked with Carrasco to get the feeling back in his hand for several moments before the pitcher walked off the field. Carrasco was sent for X-rays.

Jeff Manship replaced Carrasco after the infield hit. Carrasco missed six weeks earlier this season with a strained left hamstring, also sustained against the Tigers.

Cleveland leads Detroit by seven games in the AL Central, but has seen its rotation hit by injuries. Right-hander Danny Salazar is expected to miss the rest of the season with a strained forearm.

Josh Tomlin has returned to the rotation after going winless in August. Mike Clevinger started Thursday against the Chicago White Sox.
