"American Idol" season 10 winner Scotty McCreery will sing the national anthem at the opening game of the 2011 World Series, he said Monday.

"I have had two loves in life — music and baseball. The World Series is the biggest event in baseball, so to be there and be able to sing the National Anthem is like putting my two greatest loves together," McCreery, 17, said in a statement.

Game 1 of the Fall Classic will be held Oct. 19 at a National League ballpark that has yet to be determined.

McCreery, who amassed scores of "Idol" fans this year with his deep voice and down-home country attitude, will release his debut album "Clear As Day" Tuesday.
