Holliday out for 3rd straight day

Published Sep. 24, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday was held out of the starting lineup Tuesday against Washington, the third straight game he has missed due to back tightness.

Holliday missed Sunday's game at Milwaukee and Monday's game with Washington. Both times he was in the original starting lineup, but was scratched right before the game.

Manager Mike Matheny said Holliday is day to day.

Shane Robinson replaced Holliday in left field on Tuesday, Holliday is hitting .298 with 20 homers and 91 RBIs.
