Hall of Famer Robinson out of hospital

Published Apr. 14, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson has been discharged from the hospital after being treated for a fever and infection.

Robinson left the Greater Baltimore Medical Center on Tuesday. He says, ''I am well on my way to a full recovery.''

The 73-year-old Robinson was scheduled for an outpatient procedure on March 31, but became ill the night before and was admitted early for treatment.

During his stay, Robinson received more than 500 messages to a special email address at the hospital. The get-well wishes came from at least 25 states and as far away as Australia.
