Greinke throws in simulated game

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke threw a 30-pitch simulated game Friday, another step in his return from a cracked rib.

The 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner, Greinke was acquired from the Kansas City Royals in a December trade to be Milwaukee's ace. But he injured himself playing pickup basketball early this spring and opened the season on the disabled list.

Greinke said that he felt good and that he hoped to make his first rehab start at Class-A Brevard County on Tuesday.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said that if Greinke felt strong Saturday, he'd throw 30-35 pitches in his first game. He needs at least three starts before he's ready to rejoin the team.
