Former 'SNL' star Breuer recaps Mets' wins, Yankees series
Jim Breuer is lovin' his Mets.
After finishing four games under .500 and 17 games out of first place last season, the Mets own the best record in baseball at 15-5. The 15th win came Monday night with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory in Miami.
Terry Collins' club is definitely one of the better MLB stories of the early 2015 season, so far.
They've already put together an 11-game win streak and are undefeated (10-0) at home.
On Monday, right-handed starter Dillon Gee was cruising through the Marlins lineup, tossing a three-hit shutout through 7 2/3 innings. Problem was Miami starter Jarred Cosart was just a little better, blanking the Mets offense on just two hits.
In the bottom of the eighth, Gee ran into trouble. He yielded three consecutive two-out singles and the Marlins led 1-0.
But no fear. Not even against Marlins closer Steve Cishek in the ninth.
A Juan Lagares leadoff double, a Lucas Duda walk, a Michael Cuddyer flyout and then a Daniel Murphy three-run blast.
Then it was Mets closer Jeurys Familia shutting the door in the bottom of the ninth.
So what's this have to do with Breuer, the actor/comedian and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member?
The New York native has been posting recaps about the Mets on his Facebook page. In Monday night's post, he sure was fired up — not the "Half Baked" type of fired up — but definitely fired up.
Enjoy. (Note: If videos don't appear below, hit F5 to refresh page)
