Dustin Pedroia out of Red Sox lineup day after concussion-like symptoms

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is out of the starting lineup one day after leaving a game because of concussionlike symptoms.

Brock Holt replaced Pedroia for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Pedroia left Saturday night's 7-0 loss to the Rays in the second inning. He was elbowed in the head by the Rays' Logan Forsythe, who was sliding head-first into second while advancing on a fly.

Pedroia was dizzy after getting hurt. Red Sox manager John Farrell says Pedroia felt better Sunday and the team hopes the injury is short term.

Pedroia will have to go through concussion protocols before being allowed to play.
