The Dodgers optioned struggling reliever Russ Ortiz to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday and promoted right-hander Jon Link from the team's top farm club.

Ortiz allowed eight runs, 10 hits and five walks in his six appearances spanning seven innings. The 12-year veteran right-hander spent last season with Houston and signed a minor-league deal with the Dodgers as a free agent on Jan. 22.

Link, making his first trip to the big leagues, spent the previous five years in the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres organizations. He joined the Dodgers on Dec. 17 along with right-hander John Ely in a trade that sent backup outfielder Juan Pierre to the White Sox.
