Dodgers righty Bolsinger scratched with discomfort

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:18 p.m. ET

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Los Angeles Dodgers righty Mike Bolsinger was scratched from a scheduled start against the Padres with tightness in an abdominal muscle on Sunday.

Bolsinger felt discomfort on his left side during pregame warmups. He had emerged as the Dodgers' likely No. 5 starter after the club optioned right-hander Zach Lee to minor league camp earlier in the day.

Brandon Beachy, the third candidate for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, has been slowed by inflammation in his right elbow.

Beachy said the inflammation is a result of tendinitis. He underwent surgery on the elbow in 2012. He is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.
