Dodgers' Puig makes diving catch, fires to third for double play

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:39 p.m. ET

It almost seems inevitable that Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig will do something amazing when he steps onto a baseball field.

He proved that Saturday in Denver.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs hit a deep flyball to right field that Puig initially misread.

Puig quickly recovered, however, to make an incredible diving catch to rob Stubbs of a would-be extra-base hit.

But the play did not stop there. Catcher Wilin Rosario tried to advance from second to third after Puig made the acrobatic catch, but the gamble did not pay off. Puig stood up and fired a perfect strike to the cutoff man, who cut down Rosario for an inning-ending double play.

Just when you thought he couldn't outdo himself, the Cuban outfielder rose to the occasion yet again. He surely is worth the price of admission.
