On Friday night, Kenley Jansen made a statement in his season debut with the Dodgers by striking out four batters in the eighth inning. After Carlos Gonzalez struck out, but reached on a passed ball, Jansen struck out the next three Rockies.
According to True Blue LA, that was the sixth time that a Dodger pitcher had struck out nine in an inning. Then it happened again on Saturday night. Sergio Santos also struck out four batters in the eighth inning, though he also allowed three runs that inning. Incredibly, this was the second time Santos had struck out four batters in an inning this year. He previously accomplished the feat in spring training.
