Dillon Gee allowed one run in two innings in his first outing since having a blood clot removed from an artery in his throwing shoulder, helping a New York Mets split squad beat the University of Michigan 5-2 in an exhibition game at Tradition Field on Sunday.
Gee struck out three in his first outing since July 7.
Jonathon Niese started for the Mets against owner Fred Wilpon's alma mater. He allowed one run in two innings and struck out two. He also threw two wild pitches in the first inning, the second of which allowed a run.
Marlon Bryd had a run-scoring single in the second inning. Mets second base prospect Wilmer Flores led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run to left field.
