Diamondbacks reinstate Inciarte, place Saltalamacchia on DL

PHOENIX (AP) The Arizona Diamondbacks have reinstated outfielder Ender Inciarte from the 15-day disabled list.

To make room, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained neck.

Inciarte was hitting .287, mostly as the leadoff hitter, in 63 games before he sprained his right hamstring running out a ground ball at the Los Angeles Angels on June 12. He wasn't in the lineup for Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants but will be there, manager Chip Hale said, on Saturday night, in his customary leadoff spot.

Saltalamacchia said he tweaked the left side of his neck swinging a bat at Texas and didn't play in the three-game series against the New York Mets leading into the All-Star break.
