Davis homers on first 3 ABs vs Blue Jays

Published Aug. 25, 2012 2:53 a.m. ET

Chris Davis homered in each of his first three at-bats for the Baltimore Orioles against the Toronto Blue Jays, but couldn't continue the power display in his fourth trip to the plate.

Davis hit solo shots off starter Carlos Villanueva in the second and fourth innings Friday night and added a two-run drive against Steve Delabar in the sixth to put Baltimore up 5-1.

Facing Brad Lincoln in the eighth with a chance to tie the major league record of four homers in a game, Davis took three mighty swings but struck out on four pitches.

It is the first three-homer game of Davis' career and first by an Oriole since Nick Markakis in August 2006.
