David Ortiz on A-Rod: He's playing the right way 'as far as we know'
Count David Ortiz as a skeptic.
The Boston Red Sox slugger was asked about Alex Rodriguez and his comeback season at age 40 and Big Papi responded rather unenthusiastically.
“It is what it is,” Ortiz told reporters Tuesday, according to the New York Post. “The guy is playing the right way now — as far as we know. He’s having a good season and doing the right thing. I guess that deserves credit.”
The New York Yankees star was suspended for the entire 2014 season after testing positive for PEDs, but he is a huge reason why the Yanks sit in first place in the AL East this season.
“He’s having a good season,” Ortiz said of A-Rod. “Me, personally, I thought having a year off and getting older was something that would affect you, but he looks good to me.”
The New York Post noted that Big Papi refused to speak about the relationship between the two sluggers.
