The New York Mets' infield is scheduled to receive a key reinforcement next week.

General manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday that Daniel Murphy, who has been on the 15-day disabled list rehabbing a strained left quadriceps, is expected to return to the Mets next Tuesday, when the team takes on the Milwaukee Brewers on the road.

ESPN.com notes that Murphy, who has played games at second and third base this season, is expected to play third base upon his return to the club.
