Correa thrilled to spend time with Pujols in Anaheim

20-year-old Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa has had a pretty remarkable first couple of weeks in the big leagues, having made his presence felt with big hits and dazzling defensive plays.

He'a also now had the chance to meet two of his baseball heroes: Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies (whom he met last week) and, now, Albert Pujols of the Los Angeles Angels. 

Brian McTaggart of MLB.com explained that Correa first met Pujols on the field Monday night in Anaheim before the two of them chatted and posed for a picture prior to Tuesday night's game: 

As Correa explained to McTaggart, he was a big fan of Pujols' when he was younger: "He's a guy I admired, a guy I looked up to when I was growing up. He's obviously a great player and one of the greatest hitters in the game. It's good to talk to guys like that who have knowledge of the game and can help you with some stuff."

As Correa's rookie year rolls along, not only does he seem to have already locked down a permanent spot on the Astros' roster, but he'll have more opportunities to meet players he grew up admiring. To that end, Correa told McTaggart, "That's really cool, man. It means a lot. A guy who's going to be in the Hall of Fame one day, it's great to be playing against him."

One thing worth noting as the Astros spend a few days in Anaheim this week: Correa's reputation is already drawing lofty comparisons, as Angels manager Mike Scioscia sees parallels to his own young star: 

It seems safe to say Correa is making some quick impressions during his first few weeks in the majors...
