The St. Louis Cardinals activated pitcher Jake Westbrook from the 15-day disabled list.

The 35-year-old Westbrook went on the DL on Aug. 22 because of a lower back strain, and rejoined the roster Friday for a three-game series against NL Central-leading Pittsburgh.

The right-hander 7-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 19 games, all but one of them starts, and earned his 100th career victory earlier in the season.

Lance Lynn lost his fourth straight start Wednesday night, giving up three homers against the Reds. Ace Adam Wainwright got rocked his last two outings - both against the Reds, and rookie Shelby Miller has allowed eight runs in 10 innings his last two appearances.
