Brian Cashman explains why the Yankees chose to rebuild

The New York Yankees were major sellers at the MLB trade deadline, and the team managed to turn Carlos Beltran, Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller into eight talented prospects, including a few who are believed to be future everyday players. According to MLB.com, the Yankees now have seven of the top 100 prospects in baseball in their farm system

Yankees fans will be disappointed that 2016 is yet another lost season for the club, who will almost certainly miss the playoffs for the third time in four years - and GM Brian Cashman said Monday night that a brutal road trip to Tampa Bay sealed their fate.

The Yankees are 5-5 over their last ten games and are 5.5 games back in the division.
