Blue Jays close to deal for A's OF Davis

Published Nov. 17, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of acquiring center fielder Rajai Davis from the Oakland A's, according to sources.

The San Diego Padres also had interest in Davis before acquiring center fielder Cameron Maybin from the Florida Marlins on Nov. 13.

Davis could play right field for the BlueJays if Jose Bautista moves to third base.

MLBTradeRumors.com is reporting that reliever Trystan Magnuson is going from the Blue Jays to A's. At least one other minor leaguer would also go to A's.

Davis, who has been with Oakland since 2008, batted .284 last season with five home runs and 52 RBI in 143 games.
