Blue Jays' Aaron Sanchez to drop appeal of three-game suspension

Published Aug. 5, 2015 10:16 p.m. ET

Following MLB's announcement that Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez will serve a three-game suspension for throwing intentionally at Kansas City Royals infielder Alcides Escobar, the team quickly retorted by saying they will appeal.

That appeal was short lived.

Sanchez's hit-by-pitch sparked a brawl that had been brewing for several innings.

During his appeal process, Sanchez would have been allowed to pitch while the process played out. Now, however, the suspension will be in affect starting in Wednesday's game.
