Big Papi PO'd with Red Sox's attempt to retrieve A-Rod's 660th homer
It doesn't take much to get David Ortiz's blood boiling, and this time he's taking aim at his own team.
The Boston Red Sox attempted to retrieve Alex Rodriguez's 660th homer from a fan in Fenway Park who said he wouldn't give it to A-Rod. So, according to the New York Daily News, the franchise offered some Ortiz signed memorabilia to entice the fan, who declined that too.
Only problem, the Red Sox didn't ask Big Papi for his permission to offer his autographs. And he's far from happy about it.
"That is not OK with me at all," Ortiz told The News on Saturday. "That's not the way it's supposed to work. They're supposed to ask me before any of my (items) get offered to anyone."
Ortiz said that his stance has nothing to do with his feud with Rodriguez, whose camp reportedly brought up Ortiz's failed 2003 PED during A-Rod's appeal of his 211-game suspension.
"It's not because they were doing this for A-Rod's ball," he said. "It's because they're supposed to ask for my (things) before they do something like that.
"And if Alex really wanted the ball and they did this thing right, of course I'd sign some (items)."
