Beach ball thrown on the field costs Angels batter a strike

This is why you shouldn't bring a beach ball to a sporting event. A ball being tossed around the crowd Sunday night at Angel Stadium landed on the field in the fourth inning of the Angels' game against the Orioles, which distracted Angels first baseman C.J. Cron. Cron asked for time and turned his back on the plate, but Kevin Gausman threw a called strike to even the count at 2-2.

Cron stepped out of the box just as Gausman released the ball, but time was not granted and the pitch was a called strike. Cron fouled out later in the at-bat.
